7 Benefits of Ginkgo Biloba Extract (Sleep Included)

Benefits of Ginkgo Biloba Extract have been gained for thousands of years via Chinese medicine. Many people take this in a capsule supplement form.

Ginkgo Biloba extract helps to improve blood flow as well as act as an antioxidant for many medical issues.

The most helpful components of this leaf are believed to be the flavonoids where the antioxidant qualities are held.

The Health Benefits Of Ginkgo Biloba Extract Are:

  1. It can reduce symptoms of anxiety – need another way to stop anxiety attacks, check out my anxiety.

Can Ginkgo Biloba replace give you daytime focus?

Yes, Ginkgo Biloba has been known to increase focus when consumed. What this herbal extract does is it allows the increase of blood flow to major organs. This then increases their functional capacities.

By increasing the functional capacity of our organs it boosts our energy levels while reducing stress. Ginkgo consists of ginkgolides which protect our nerve cells to improve cognitive function.

I know that most days when I wake up I need something to start my day to get me going. That’s where this herb comes in. It’s a great way to boost the brain.

Are they Vegan-Friendly?

What I find really nice now is since some people are going vegan/vegetarian, they can enjoy the benefits that Ginkgo Biloba can provide.

Most soft gels are made with animal-derived gelatin. But the capsules you see here are 100% vegan. They are certified by the Vegan Society and are formulated with the help of physicians and nutritionists.

It can be used by meat-eaters or non-meat eaters.

How Long Before Benefits Of Gingko Biloba Extract Kick In?

Most times when it’s going to work for someone it will take at least 2 to 3 weeks maybe even longer for it to kick in.

There are some who notice a difference after a couple of days. You will need to be aware of it yourself to determine if it’s working or not.

The best way to make this determination is by evaluating before you begin taking the herb to see where your memory is at.

After taking the supplement for a few days see if you notice an improvement in your memory.

Will It Help With Tinnitus?

I have severe tinnitus in my right ear. It’s a persistent ringing or buzzing when there is no external sound present.

Tinnitus is a condition that results from age-related hearing loss due to blood vessel abnormalities or listening to extremely loud music/sounds. Mine is due to surgeries that took place during my childhood.

Ginkgo biloba contains many antioxidants and rich herbs which helps to improve blood flow to the brain. It’s this blood flow that may be lacking which is causing the tinnitus.

The decreased ringing in my ear was noticeable after 2 weeks.

Does it contain gluten?

No, this herb is gluten-free. It’s great for those people who have celiac or gluten allergies. This herb comes from one of the oldest living trees which have survived yet remain unchanged for over 150 years

What are the side effects of Gingko Biloba?

The side effects of this herb can be, but are rare:

  • Allergic skin reactions
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Seizures
  • Stomach upset
  • Weakness
  • Heart Palpitations

The benefits of Ginkgo Biloba extract for me outweigh the risks or side effects. The reason being is as I related up above, the side effects are rare if you notice them, stop using the herb.

Another thing I want to mention is it can interact with medication. Be certain to do your research related to any medications you are taking before using this herb.

Let me know in the comments below if you have any experience with Ginkgo Biloba.

It is important to move to more holistic and natural solution to our health problems.  Being an exotic fruit it may be difficult to find. Thanks for introducing a way to access this miracle of nature.

  2. I liked your article. For years I have been using Ginkgo Biloba in combination with spirulina and qoenzyme Q10. I have a certain age, and at old age all kinds of problems arise. But I didn’t know that Ginkgo Biloba has so many benefits. I use intermittently, not continuously. I mainly take Ginkgo Biloba for brain stimulation. Thanks for sharing.

Do you think that there are other benefits that you have derived from this plant other than curing your tinnitus? Do you like the taste of it and is the price of the plant worth the benefits?

    • I like that taste as does my husband. We both think it is worth it.
