Many chiropractors recommend orthopedic pillows for neck and shoulder pain. These pillows help to take the pressure off the neck as well as the shoulder so that you can wake up feeling fully energize and ready for the day.

The contouring of the orthopedic pillows will curve around your neck and shoulders to provide proper spinal alignment. Although neck or shoulder pain affects mainly the elderly, neck pain can come at any age.

For instance, my wife was 36 years old when she sustained a neck injury. She had to have two back-to-back cervical spinal surgeries just to fix what the injury had impacted.

Once we brought her home, her pillow had to be one that would keep her neck and spine in the alignment. We looked through many orthopedic pillows for neck and shoulder pain to give her the best chance at recovering good use of her neck.

That’s when I really started researching for good pillows for neck and shoulder pain. We eventually ended up going with a memory foam pillow, which allows room for the curve of her neck. Before we purchased the pillow, she would always wake up with headaches caused by the tension or stress on her neck during sleep.

But once we purchased the pillow, she was a happy sleeper!

Most sleep experts studies recommend getting a pillow to make the most use of your nighttime sleep. The pillow that they suggest is one that will have an allowance for the natural curve of your neck as well as taking the pressure off your shoulders.

Buyers Guide For The Best Neck And Shoulder Pillow

So now that you’ve made a decision to purchase a pillow for your neck or shoulder pain, it’s essential for you to take note of what you should look for in a cervical pillow.

The reason I say this is because my wife and I went through ten different types of pillows before we settled on what she uses now, which is a memory foam adjustable pillow.

There are a lot of neck pillows out in the market right now. Make sure that you have a thorough read of the pillow reviews above before you make the decision. This way you won’t waste money or time looking for the perfect one.

The first thing that you want to focus on is the material. Both latex and memory foam is excellent in allowing the pillow to curve around your neck naturally. The therapeutic value for both of these materials is valued not only in the pillow world, but it is also now used in mattresses.

Many people suffer from back pain, where latex and memory foam mattress or mattress toppers come in handy.

Another thing you want to take note of when getting a cervical spinal pillow is the shape of the pillow. Does it allow for different sleeping positions? Does the curve of the pillow seem like it will be naturally adaptable to your neck curve?

Final Words About Orthopedic Neck And Shoulder Pain Pillows

Orthopedic pillows for neck and shoulder pain are excellent for filling the space between your neck and the mattress. This is what provides optimal support to your total body all night long.

Finding the perfect ergonomic will help to reduce the anxiety of sleeping when you feel you might wake up with neck pain. Nowadays, people think that they can manage with very little sleep, not true. Our body takes quite the beating when we don’t give it a proper rest it deserves.

It’s during sleep time that we recover from the daily grind that is our life. If you don’t have the right pillow and you already suffer from lack of sleep. Then you might be doing yourself great disfavor by taking away a few hours of sleep you can actually get without experiencing pain.

In the beginning, it might be a little bit hard to make a transition to start using a pillow that is unique to your neck and shoulders. But by giving it time, you’re going to benefit and gain the rewards of waking up pain-free.

  6. Having the right pillow to sleep is so important nowadays, especially for people who lead a busy lifestyle. Surprisingly, I never faced this problem in my 20’s. It was only when I started working long hours in my 30’s, after having all the stiff shoulders that I started searching for the right pillow. I came to find out that I am a semi-hard pillow person and contoured shape doesn’t really suit me. Since I live in the tropics, breathable material is important because the last thing I want to happen is to wake up in the middle of the night with sweats around my neck.

    • Many look for breathable qualities, makes for cooler sleeping at night.

That’s the reason I have chosen to get mine. I seem to be drawn to the Nature’s Guest Adjustable Cervical Pillow the most. I’ll look up the price, and hope its not costly .
