Top 5 Sleep Products That College Students Need

Why post about sleep products that college students need?

First off schooling is going to be back in session very soon. When college students leave their homes to go and start a new chapter in their life, most likely, they will not have their parents there with them. It’s a whole new world for them, but they will still need the same consistency and structure as they had at home to be successful.

Remember, most times, we as parents are the ones who are funding their education. To ensure that our funding meets its full potential, it’s up to us to make sure that our college student does not suffer while they are away doing their schooling.

My son is actually starting college this September. All his life he has had me wake him as well deal with any stress which arose at school.

But now that he is going away to college he’s not going to have that. In order to prepare him correctly, I found some sleep products that I know he will need to be successful.

Now onto sleep products that college students need.

1.    Sonic Bomb Loud Dual Alarm Clock with Vibrating Bed Shaker

Knowing that colleges students can have long nights of studying or whatever else it is that they get up to. With a demanding school schedule getting up in the morning can be challenging

The Sonic Bomb Alarm clock will have them waking up quite quickly. The display on this vibrating alarm is easy to read and is ideal for college students. It has long-lasting qualities, which means it may even outlast the years the student spends in college.

It offers peace of mind to those who are hard to wake in the morning. The unique 113 dB extra loud alarm with adjustable tone and volume control allows for easy waking.

You can also turn the alarm off to turn on the vibrations; this will allow the person sharing the room not to be awoken by the alarm. The vibrations have strength control, so you can adjust how much vibration you want.

All you need to do is put it under your pillow or mattress. It has a powerful 12 V bed shaker, which will easily shake up whatever you’re sleeping on.

The alarm clock comes in seven different colors; the beautiful thing is they all go with any décor of a room.

2.    LUCID 2-Inch Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper

When a college student goes off to college, they have no idea what kind of a bed they are going to be getting. Usually, in dorms, there are four twin size beds for each room. The mattress on the bed may give students trouble falling asleep.

Getting a mattress topper will save them from sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress. The Lucid gel-infused memory foam mattress topper comes in thicknesses of 2 and 3 inches. It’s a very soft foam which will contour nicely to your body.

This mattress is gel-infused as well is ventilated, which means it will help to regulate temperature. It is great for both cold and hot sleepers. The mattress is an open-cell, which means it is designed not to sag, which can often happen with memory foam.

You could probably sleep in any sleeping position you want to when having this mattress topper on your bed. It provides excellent pressure relief; this would be very beneficial to a college student who is always on the go.

3.    VicTsing Essential Oil Diffuser

Essential oil diffusers offer many benefits to college students. Especially during allergy season when they can be used as humidifiers. That’s when a lot of class time is interrupted.

Having said that, allergies are not the only time when diffusers can be used. They can also be used to create scents that promote sleep. The most commonly used sleep-promoting scent is lavender.

Most college students are always on the go, where they may not have time to care for their skin. Plus college rooms can be pretty dry. With the essential oil diffusers, moisture can be introduced into the room, which can help with breathing as well as skin problems.

To create a sleepy atmosphere, all a person has to do is add a few drops of essential oil into the water and then allow it to do its work. When the diffuser runs out of the water, it will automatically shut off.

It has four-time setting modes. You can either set it on continuous-time or 1 hour, 3 hours, and 6 hours. Your college student will be able to select a suitable timer mode and mist options to create a calming and relaxing environment.

It also comes with seven soothing led lights, and each color has two light options, they can either be dim or bright. The diffuser can be cycled through all 14 colors, or you can just set it at one fixed color, whatever provides the best calming effect.

It is a beautifully designed super modern wood grain, will go with any decor in a room. The manufacturers back this diffuser with 45 days money back and a 12-month worry-free warranty.

4.    One Line A Day: A Five-Year Memory Book

College students should definitely be keeping a journal.

Because journals will help them get through their days by writing down what happened throughout their day, it’s a known fact that once you write down a thought, it actually drifts away from the mind.

Here are some more benefits to college students who write in journals:

  • Practice writing – writing is one of the essential skills that a college student needs. By writing down their thoughts in the evening, it will give them practice as well as create confidence. This can lead to having a better sleep as well as not worrying about the lack of writing skills.
  • Express your feelings – most of us need to express our feelings, but people who are away in college don’t have anyone that they can communicate. For this reason, a journal will be perfect for them, a place to let out their feelings, so those feelings don’t interrupt their sleep.

Most college students end up in college at least 4+ years. For them, this five-year journal and memory book is perfect.

Not everyone has time to write a full page on top of their daily to-do list. Committing to just one line a day is pretty manageable, you can always add more if you feel like doing that.

Each page of the journal includes an entry for five successive years, which means at any time you want you can revisit what you’ve written. This helps college students to reflect back on what they’ve learned about themselves over the course of years of attending college.

This journal is durable yet elegantly designed with a ribbon for easy page marking. It makes an excellent gift for your college student when they’re embarking on their journey. It will also serve as a keepsake.

Journaling a final thought before falling asleep at night helps the college student get a great sleep. The reason this is because their mind is clear; they have no anxiety or stress because they’ve released it all into the journal.

5.    AmazonBasics Reversible Microfiber Comforter Blanket

Going away to college can already be a scary experience. Give your college student a blanket that will have them leaving with a little bit of a homey feeling.

The AmazonBasics reversible blanket is100% polyester fill. It is reversible with solid colors on both sides. The diamond stitching will help to keep the fill in place. The quilted look of the blanket provides security to your student with a feeling of home.

Not only is the blanket soft to touch, but it also has breathing capabilities and is wrinkle-resistant. The microfiber comforter is insulated to provide warmth and coziness all year round. The style of this blanket is simple yet elegant.

It is both washer/dryer safe, so there’s no way your college student will be able to ruin the blanket.

Some Final Words About Sleep Products That College Students Need

Because I’m also emotionally invested in my child’s outcome at college, I want to ensure that he receives the best support from me.

Having gone to university myself, I know sleep is essential, especially during times of pressure. There are many pitfalls when stress could be introduced.

Since my son likes to play video games late into the morning, my husband and I have made sure to include sleeping gifts as part of his going away package.

At the end of the day, it’s essential to sleep well during college days. The products I reviewed today can help your college student sleep without having to sacrifice grades or their social life.

Another thing I want to add is that getting the right sleep products that college students need can go a long way in making the college experience a bit more fun.

They already face so many obstacles that prevent good sleep; you can make it easier on them and yourself by getting them off to a great start.

Let me know in the comments below which sleeping product do you think would help sleep-deprived college students.

  1. These products listed in your article all seem pretty cool, when I was an engineering student  I only used my alarm clock & redbull to wake up. I wish an article like this was available when I was in school 3 years ago. I plan to go for my masters & I think #1 will be very helpful to me.

    • Me too, back about 20 years ago would have been nice. But even so, now my son will benefit. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  2. Excellent article on sleep products, the product are wonderful for the students, going through daily schedules of the campus in which sometimes it might be rigorous, and this product is highly needed to wake them up;I would prefer ;Sonic Bomb Loud Dual Alarm Clock with Vibrating Bed Shaker because of the vibrating function, the product is awesome, thank you for sharing this post.

    • Yes, the sonic bomb is very popular among young students. Thanks for your comment.

  3. Jagi, thank you so much for this article. All of the recommendations you offered are great but the best ones for me were the sonic bomb alarm clock and the oil diffuser. I know firsthand how hard it can be to wake kids up who are sound sleepers and suffer from allergies. I think those 2 go hand in hand with college students.I will recommend them to my sister-in-law I think they are a must for my niece who is just starting college as well and is a sound sleeper.

    Thank you!!

    • Glad you found this post helpful. Thank you for your comment.

  4. HI,

I had to laugh when first saw the name of the alarm clock ,” Sonic Bomb Loud Dual Alarm Clock with Vibrating Bed Shaker”, I needed that for my kid when he was in High School. I would have bought like ten of those and hid them all over his bed just to pay him back for…just kidding.

I think all your ideas were good and I especially liked the journal. Guys sometimes think its unmanly to keep a journal which is unfortunate because manly noble, strong, renown men throughout history kept journals. In fact just about all of them did  which is how we know so many details about them.

While it is good that kids can get away and realize just how good that they had it when they lived at home they are still our kids and we will always try and help them anyway we can, the foam mattress is priceless and the humidifier if they suffer from allergies is smart.

    • I agree with the journaling idea; it’s a great way to clear the mind, which I feel college students should do on a regular basis. Thanks for stopping by.

  5. This is exceptionally interesting because I have been baffled at how lazily my cousin wakes up late in the morning and I got worried if he has not been oversleeping in college. So, I decided to get him an alarm and this sonic bomb is more than perfect for me. I love the fact that it is very loud and can also have effects on the bed. That would be just great to get this for him. At least, I would be very sure he would wake up on time to meet up with lecture hours. Thanks

    • Great that you are looking out for your cousin. Thanks for stopping by.

  6. Hi Jagi

Those are 5 products which most students could do not without. Sleep during the student years is so important that you need to be in your peak for learning and partying. They need to go to bed in a reasonable time and get up for those important lectures and tutorials, whilst being in a relaxed atmosphere. I think you are a good mother to your children, as clearly you have their interest at heart. Looking forward to your future recommendation.

    • For kids to succeed, parents need to ensure full preparation before sending their child off to college.

  7. Wow, this is very true. Life in college is not easy and as such, the college students need the very best. I can’t even start mentioning all the goodies you have put up here. They are all so good. I use a diffuser here and they are very good for having a blissful night. The alarm is also very helpful. This is all great. I’ll be sure to share this post. Nice!

    • You are right; college life isn’t easy. I remember back to days. It was too social, which made sleep non-existent. I agree diffusers are great; we use them at home due to allergies as well to keep our rooms a little to the cold side.

  8. Wow! My friend has been worried on how his son would be coping in his new place of studies. This has made me bothered and I had to make this research. This is a really great review that has successfully recommended these nice sleep products. These products are less expensive and would go a long way to discipline these students. I hope to see more helpful and value adding post. Kudos to this nice review.

    • Great that you helping out friend’s son. Hopefully, you find something he can use at college. Thanks for stopping by.

  9. Nice article about an important topic! Sleep is so important and pretty often it’s quite underrated.
These sleep products would be helpful when I was in university and better and more sleep was needed.
Especially gel-infused memory foam topper looks great. I will take a look at it. 5-year memory book sounds pretty useful as well.
    Kind regards -Jesse

    • You are right sleep is underrated.  We can all use a piece of mind when our students are getting the sleep they need. Thanks for the comment.

  10. These are pretty cool stuffs that are really essential to students. I must commend the presence of the Sonic Bomb Loud Dual Alarm Clock with Vibrating Bed Shaker. Like my eldest child who would soon be on his way to college, he sleeps alot and deeply, if left alone he would miss all his classes. I’d make sure he gets the alarm clock while he going to college. Thanks for this nice post

    • My son plays video games consistently, he definitely needs the alarm too. Thanks for stopping by.

  11. Hallo there Jagi,

This is exactly what I needed. I have a son who will be joining college in September as well and I have been worried so much about his life there now that I won’t be there to take care of him. And being a person who went to a university that was close to home I never got to experience the life in college at night and early mornings, and my wife too. So we were wondering how to go about the situation as far as sleep is concerned. You have really saved a lot of hassles. Thanks heaps!

    • My son is starting college as well, we have already packed his bag with some of these goodies. Thanks for stopping by.

  12. Sleep is a big issue in college and not getting enough is an issue and definitely affects grades. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more from you.

  13. Hello Jagi.

Thank you for your very informative article. Some members of my family suffer from seasonal allergies and the essential oil diffuser looks like something that can relieve the symptoms. Even though my children are all grown up and don’t go to school anymore, I think the One Line a Day memory book is something that I could use as a journal myself.

    Thank you for sharing.

    • I like journaling as well, as does my youngest daughter. It helps to get everything out of mind. Thanks for stopping by.

  16. Hi Jagi. What a great blog. One of my granddaughters is starting University soon. She’s doing a bachelor of science. We have been so very proud of her achievements and, as she has always been a hard worker, we have decided to reward her with some goodies to make her life there more comfortable. The very first thing I noticed was your Sonic Boom alarm clock. I think that Item on its own is a must have for most young people. Also, as she likes to keep records, the 5 year memory book sounds fantastic. I will definitely be clicking on your links to check the products out and see what else might be available for her. Thank you. Jim
