What is the Best CPAP pillows for side sleepers? It doesn’t matter if your newly diagnosed with sleep apnea or are already a CPAP user. The post I’ve written today reviews five top-rated CPAP pillows for side sleepers, and I’m pretty sure you’ll find one which will work for your sleep issues.

What Are CPAP Pillows For Side Sleepers

A CPAP pillow for side sleepers is meant for people who prefer to sleep on their side, but toss and turn, which is most people. Side sleeping is one of the most preferred sleeping position for most of the world population. The CPAP pillow is different from the standard pillow, not only in designing and shape but also it has unique cutouts where hose fits in without pressure and prevents air leakage.

The cutouts are on both sides of the pillow, which means turning from one side to the other is a breeze. CPAP users who sleep with the standard pillow are often limited to sleeping on their back, which sometimes can worsen the condition of sleep apnea as it can promote throat obstruction to cause breathing issues.

When people who use CPAP machine sleep at night, they need continuous positive air pressure therapy; the CPAP side sleeper pillows allow this to take place with the least invasive features. The CPAP pillow for side sleepers will reduce apnea episodes as well as help you get a full night sleep to wake up feeling ready for the day.

Considerations When Getting A CPAP Pillow For Side Sleepers

In the 1990s, sleep apnea pillows meet their entry into the world. They were designed so that people who have sleep apnea and used CPAP machines were not hindered with breathing issues. It wasn’t until the late 90s that good sleep apnea pillows were starting to take shape.

There are some considerations that you need to keep in mind when purchasing a CPAP pillow for side sleepers:

Comfort – since you’re a side sleeper, you’ll need to ensure that the pillow you purchase will provide support to your neck, shoulders, and spine. If anyone of these comes out of alignment, you’ll wake up with pain. That’s why it’s essential not to use the standard pillow when using a CPAP machine.

Shape Of The Pillow – although sleep apnea pillows come in several different shapes, you’ll need to keep in mind what precisely a CPAP pillow for side sleepers needs to look like, which means having the right cutouts as well as having space for your neck and shoulders.

Support – since a pillow is where you’re resting your head every night, you want to ensure that the pillow doesn’t go flat where your CPAP nasal mask may start to leak air. The right CPAP pillow should support your internal organs around the throat area and prevent them from collapse. You’ll also need to keep thoughts on your sleep position and wanting to wake up without muscle cramps, pain, or stiffness.

Size – you want to get a pillow that will not be too high off the bed that you end up with a pinched nerve in your neck or spine. Staying in alignment throughout the night even when sleeping on your side is very important.

Compatibility – will the CPAP pillow support your sleeping needs. You’ll need to get a pillow that can accommodate your mask or hose with convenience.

  1. Hello, Eric I really enjoyed your description of these amazing CPAP pillows for side sleepers. My first time to come across these products and the simplicity of your description improved my understanding. Most of the qualities demonstrated about CPAP pillows prove that they are capable of reducing cessation of breath which disrupts sleep (Apnea) hence causing many to enjoy their sleep.
I really admired the Lumia Wellness CPAP Pillow For Side Sleepers so that I will not wake up with an ugly face filled with wrinkles, what do you think? All the products are excellent and I think the Contour Products CPAPMax 2.0 Pillow is most helpful due to its amazing properties like minimizing air leaks as one is likely to change position during sleep.

    Thanks, Eric.

    • Thanks for sharing your comment, and wishing you a great sleep. Each pillow has a quality you will enjoy, but all 5 are great for side sleepers.

  2. We didn’t know that there were pillows to help C-pap users.  What a nice surprise.  My husband had many of the issues that were talked about.  The shape to accommodate a side sleeper is a practical way to handle his issues.  I noticed that the ones you recommended seemed to have memory foam bases.  Have you or your spouse used pillows for this purpose?

When my spouse gets home I will show him this article and he reads through hopefully one will appeal and fit the issues for his sleeping.  Sleep is so important for good health.  Missing out because of a pillow is silly.  He has been using this kind of machine for 15 or so years, and the whole time felt that he needed another pillow.

I noticed that when I went to the sites suggested for checking the price, they give good descriptive statements as well.  This with your information should help us make a good decision.  Thank you for pointing us towards a way to solve the issue.

    • My mother uses a CPAP pillow side sleepers, it’s convenient as she does a lot of tossing and turning at night. Any of these pillows will be great for your spouse, hope you find the best one that works for him. Thanks for stopping by.
